South Los Angeles

South Los Angeles encompasses a collection of historic neighborhoods south of Downtown, stretching from the USC corridor through the Crenshaw district, Leimert Park, and the communities along the 110 Freeway corridor. The area includes some of Los Angeles’s most historically significant African-American cultural neighborhoods as well as working-class communities with deep roots in the city’s industrial and residential history. Leimert Park, Crenshaw, Baldwin Hills, and West Adams are the most recognized names within the South LA geography, each with a distinct character shaped by decades of community building and investment.
