The Knight Group (“TKG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a real estate team operating under Compass in Los Angeles, California, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through theknightgroupla.com and our advertising, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using our website or submitting your information to us, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us directly. When you fill out a form on our site, respond to one of our Facebook or other online ads, request a home valuation, schedule a tour, or otherwise contact us, we collect the information you provide – typically your name, email address, phone number, and the home-search criteria you share (such as areas, price range, bedrooms, bathrooms, property type, timeline, and financing status).
Information about your property search. When you browse listings on our site or in the account we create for you (see Section 3), we and our IDX provider may record the properties and searches you view, save, or favorite, and how often you return. We use this to send you relevant listings and to follow up.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect technical data through cookies and similar technologies – IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring links – including through analytics and advertising tools such as Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) pixel.
Information from third parties. We may receive lead and activity information from advertising and lead-generation partners (for example, Meta/Facebook lead ads and our marketing platforms), and property data from the applicable Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
2. How we use your information
We use your information to: respond to your inquiries and provide real estate services; create a home-search account and saved search for you and send you matching listing alerts (see Section 3); contact you by phone call, text message, and email to follow up on your inquiry (see Section 4); personalize the listings and market information we show you; operate, analyze, and improve our website and advertising; and comply with legal, regulatory, and brokerage obligations.
3. Home-search accounts and saved searches – please read
When you submit your information to us – including through our website forms or our online ads – we may create an account for you on our property-search platform (powered by our IDX/listing provider) and set up a saved search based on the criteria you provided, without requiring you to complete a separate signup yourself. We do this so you can receive listings that match what you are looking for and so we can serve you better.
What this means for you:
- An account is created in your name using the contact details you gave us. Your phone number may be used as the password or access credential for that account.
- We enable automated listing-alert emails to the email address you provided, so new and updated matching listings are sent to you. You can unsubscribe from these at any time (see Section 7).
- The saved search reflects the criteria we had at the time; you can change, refine, or add criteria at any time, or ask us to update or delete the search.
- You can ask us to delete this account and saved search at any time – just contact us using Section 11. Deleting it will stop the associated alerts.
If you would prefer we not create an account or saved search for you, contact us and we will not do so, or will remove it.
4. Text messages and phone calls
By providing your phone number, you agree that TKG (and Jason Knight) may call and send you text messages, including through automated means, about properties, your inquiry, and our services.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase or of receiving real estate services.
- To stop texts, reply STOP at any time; reply HELP for help. You may also ask us to stop calling.
- Our texts come from our business line and identify Jason Knight / The Knight Group.
5. Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, and advertising (including retargeting through Meta and Google). Where required, we present a cookie consent banner and honor your choices. You can also control cookies through your browser settings. We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
6. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only as needed to run our business:
- Service providers who act on our behalf – our IDX/listing platform (which hosts your search account), our customer-relationship-management (CRM) platform, our email and text-messaging providers, our lead-generation and advertising partners, and analytics providers.
- Compass, our brokerage, and transaction service providers, as needed to provide real estate services.
- MLS and real estate data providers, consistent with their rules.
- Legal and safety – when required by law, regulation, subpoena, or to protect rights and safety.
- Business transfers – in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Our use of advertising cookies and pixels (such as Meta) may be considered “sharing” of personal information under California law. You may opt out by adjusting your cookie settings or by contacting us.
7. Your choices
- Email: unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, or contact us.
- Text messages: reply STOP.
- Your search account: ask us to update or delete your account and saved search at any time.
- Cookies: adjust your browser settings or use our cookie controls where offered.
8. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; access a copy of your personal information; correct inaccurate personal information; delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions; opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information; and non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
The categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 1 (identifiers, contact information, commercial and inquiry information, internet activity, and inferences about your home-search preferences). To exercise any right, contact us using Section 11. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframes required by law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request.
9. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and follow up with you, and thereafter as required for legal, tax, brokerage, and record-keeping obligations. When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
10. Security; children
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information; however, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
